Coverage highlights:

• Policy is a "claims-made and reported" form, providing coverage for claims that are first made against the insured judge and reported to the Company during the policy period or extended reporting period.
• Coverage applies to judicial liability claims, including suits or arbitration, arising out of acts in the insured judge's official judicial capacity, and to employment practices claims, including administrative, investigative, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or other proceedings, alleging wrongful employment practices.
• Coverage is provided for acts taking place prior to the policy period if, before the inception of the first judges professional liability insurance policy issued by the Company, the insured judge had no reasonable basis to believe that such acts might reasonably be expected to be the basis of a future claim.
• Defense is provided for disciplinary proceedings against the insured judge.
• A limit of liability of $1,000,000 each claim and annual aggregate, with no deductible, is provided for damages and claim expenses arising out of judicial liability claims, and for claims expenses arising out of the defense of disciplinary proceedings.
• An "employment practices claim sub-limit of liability" in the amount of $200,000 annual aggregate, with no deductible, is provided for employment practices claims, including damages and claim expenses.
• Claims cannot be settled without the insured judge's written consent.
• Experienced defense counsel is appointed by the insurance company.
• The typical policy outlined above has premiums as low as $2,109 plus applicable fees.
